 ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Our annual wills and estates conference (held in August at the Gold Coast) draws succession lawyers from around Australia.  It is one of our most popular conferences and that is why we are repeating most of the sessions in Melbourne in March 2018 for all those who couldn’t get to the Gold Coast.

Because the timing of the conference coincides with the end of the CPD year, we’ve included 3 sessions covering the CPD compulsory subjects.

Thursday 1 March 2018

Making the Will

  • Statutory Wills: Navigating the Challenging Path Ahead for Practitioners
  • Informal Wills - Intention and Capacity Under the Spotlight
  • Knowledge and Approval - Recent Legal Developments

Estate Administration

  • Making Sense of Common Law Will Construction Rules
  • Variation and Termination of Testamentary Trusts
  • The Changing Face of Intestacy

Friday 2 March 2018

Wills & Estate Litigation

  • Gone, But Not Forgotten: Rethinking Marginal Family Provision Claims
  • Equitable Remedies in Wills and Estates Litigation - Last Option or Best Remedy?
  • Undue Influence - Coercion in Wills

Compulsory Topics

  • (Professional Skills): Mediation in Wills Disputes: When is a Deal not a Deal?
  • (Practice Management): Navigating the Cost Conundrums in Your Wills and Estates Practice

 FEEDBACK FROM THE LAST YEAR...

The best conference I have attended in 4 decades!

Excellent content with a variety of different speakers who brought a national rather than state based view to the topics.

Good quality papers and speakers, well run and professional.

Great venue and speakers, well run and presented.

Very informative material, well organised format, great speakers.
