About the webinar 

There has been a raft of changes affecting foreign purchasers of land. This session looks at landholder duty issues, stamp duty and land charges nationally, since the changes commenced.  It includes:

  • Foreign residents, CGT and clearance certificates – is it as easy as 1,2,3? Understanding the rules and regulations
  • The FIRB regime – what are we seeing 1 year on?
    • applying for exemptions
    • FIRB enforcement powers – have they been used and what was the outcome?
  • Withholding tax on sales by non-residents
  • Understanding the stamp duty and land tax surcharges
  • What structuring changes need to be considered? Advising the foreign investor
  • Drafting special conditions – do you need to amend and what are the suggested changes?

Craig is a member of the firm’s corporate advisory and tax group, with specific technical experience and expertise in charitable and not-for-profit law. Craig advises a range of charitable and not-for-profit organisations on structuring matters, compliance and regulation, statutory interpretation, government contracts, as well as state and federal taxation.
