 ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Older clients may have specific estate planning issues which do not arise for younger clients, relating to the higher risk of health issues and the need to enter the aged care system. This session reviews what advisers need to consider in relation to the following:

  • Advanced healthcare directives:

    • how do these interact with a medical power of attorney?

    • what issues and decisions do they cover?

    • can multiple directives be active at the same time?

  • Aged care and refundable accommodation deposits (RAD):

    • third party funding of the RAD – setting up loan arrangement

    • what happens to the RAD on death

    • what happens to the main residence CGT exemption?

  • Appointing the right attorney:

    • choosing the correct type

    • taking care over the powers granted – limiting the powers of your agent
