 ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Our annual update for NSW property lawyers features two sessions delivered by well known Sydney property law identity, Tony Cahill.

(1) Practice and Procedure in Property: Key Developments and Recent Updates

2018 was a big year for property law and 2019 is set to be even bigger. This session will give you an overview of the key reforms over the last twelve months, including the following:

  • 2018 edition of the contract for the sale of land – understanding the key changes

  • Crown land management reforms

  • Changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979

  • Swimming pools reforms

  • Application of the Low Rise Medium Density Housing Code

  • Regulation update including the Greiner Inquiry

  • E-conveyancing – countdown to full implementation

  • LPI post privatisation – what has it meant in practice?

(2) The New GST Withholding Regime: Key Issues in Practice

We’ve now been grappling with the new GST withholding regime for long enough to know where the challenges lie post implementation. This practical session moves beyond the basics and instead focuses on the trickier aspects of the regime that have arisen in practice. It includes:

  • Scope and operation of the new GST withholding provision – what does it mean in practice for practitioners?

  • Special conditions to include in your contracts

  • E-conveyancing and ATO payments – how do the two work in practice?

  • How should developers be documenting margin scheme calculations?

  • Protections available to practitioners when things go wrong

  • Case studies focusing on practical application problems
