Andrew has more than 40 years’ experience in superannuation, trusts, estate and succession planning. He is considered one of Australia’s pre-eminent superannuation lawyers and has been recognised in The Best Lawyers in Australia in superannuation law every year since 2012.

Andrew advises on self-managed superannuation, estate and trust planning, restructuring of family trusts and companies, inter-generational wealth transfers and disputes, and philanthropy.

Andrew is also experienced in the development of strategies for the holding, management and protection of family assets and business interests. He represents many successful Australian individuals and families, advising on their trusts, companies, and SMSF’s.

Andrew founded and then chaired the Law Council of Australia Superannuation Committee for ten years. He has maintained a close interest in the development of superannuation law and policy as Chair of industry super fund Equipsuper for over twelve years retiring in 2021. Equipsuper managed funds of over $30B on behalf of its members. 

He is also an industry Director of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. 

He is Chair of Qualitas Limited, a leading Australian alternative real estate investment company which listed on the ASX in December 2021. 

He has always believed that to effectively represent client interests, it is necessary to understand the business model of their enterprises, and their aspirations of family groups.

Andrew has spoken extensively at conferences on the areas of superannuation, succession planning, philanthropy and tourism for over 30 years.

Andrew is Chair of the Sir Andrew Fairley Foundation, and Deputy Chair of the Mornington Peninsula Foundation. He was previously Chair for 8 years of the Foundation for Alcohol Research & Education (FARE).

He retired in 2017 as Deputy Chair of Tourism Australia and as Chair of Parks Victoria.
