About the Webinar

This webinar is part of TEN’s “Back to Basics” range of webinars which are specifically produced for junior practitioners. This webinar is priced at only $99 as our way of giving back to the profession and providing a cost effective means for firms to provide CPD for junior practitioners.

In today’s modern world, finances for everyday people are becoming increasingly complex. A fundamental aspect of the modern lawyer’s role is to decipher complex financial documents to ascertain the legal and equitable interests of those concerned and to consider what amendments may be required to give effect to the proposed orders or outcome sought.  This session will:

  • Provide an overview of the different structures available to structure finances and the advantages and disadvantages of them from the client’s perspective
  • Break down financial documents (including financial statements, individual/company returns) and explain the underlying accounting principles which govern their preparation, what flags lawyers should look out for and when to seek further information or documentation)
  • Provide guidance on understanding the limitations of your knowledge and when to bring in specialist assistance
