This session will examine the current issues that need to be considered in estate planning and explore what may be coming in the future, including:

  • The impact of a person’s assets and income on level of funding and personal liability
  • How does the family home factor into the financing?

  • Decision-making for aged care – powers of attorney and family care agreements
  • Recommendations from the Royal Commission on funding and other relevant matters

Kristel has a diverse practice experience in estate planning and administration, elder law, property, commercial and corporate law exceeding 15 years. She has assisted clients with large property and commercial transactions, redevelopments, body corporate issues, leasing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructures, compliance and governance.

Kristel provides caring and considered advice to her older clients with the host of legal issues which can be of particular concern in later life. She is especially interested in assisting clients with retirement village and aged care matters, and estate planning.

Kristel also has specialised expertise in charity and not for profit law, advising retirement village operators, aged care providers, schools and educational institutions, churches, charities and other not for profit organisations.
