In this program, Matthew Ray, from Craig Ray & Associates in Brisbane, provides a guide to: the role of solicitors in verification of identity, or VOI, and the related verification of the right to deal; the regulatory framework, and the VOI Standards which provide a safe harbour for solicitors; “reasonable steps” in VOI, and when should “further steps” be taken; and the practical issues in implementing VOI compliant practices and procedures in legal practices.
