About the Podcast

Family lawyers inevitably encounter in the course of their practice a ”motley crew” of sometimes bizarre characters, some with recognised personality disorders which can present major risks, not only to the person’s own case but to the practitioner, both professionally and personally. In this program, Paul Fildes, from Taussig Cherie Fildes Lawyers in Melbourne, looks at: the category of personality disorders identified in the DSM-5, and in particular the personality type often referred to as “narcissist”; how to identify the warning signs; steps that can be taken to guard against the risks; ethical rules applying to the conduct of other practitioners; and when and how a practitioner can withdraw from acting for a difficult client.
