About the Webinar

The commercial contracting landscape has changed significantly in recent years, with evolving risks and regulatory expectations reshaping how contracts are drafted. From cybersecurity to privacy to intellectual property, commercial lawyers must now anticipate issues that weren’t front of mind just five years ago. This session explores how to modernise contract drafting to reflect today’s business and legal environment. Topics include:

  • Cybersecurity clauses: allocating risk and responsibility for data protection, breach notification, and third-party access
  • Privacy compliance: reflecting obligations under the Privacy Act and recent reforms
  • Confidentiality: updating definitions and obligations to meet contemporary standards of information control
  • Intellectual property: clearly defining ownership, usage rights, and licensing of IP created or exchanged
  • Boilerplate under the microscope: revising standard clauses for relevance, enforceability, and current best practice
