Recorded Webinar: SMSFs and the Digital World: Cryptocurrency and Non-Fungible Tokens
Date/Time
About the Webinar
Whilst government agencies such as ASIC publish warnings on SMSFs and cryptocurrency, there is no doubting this type of investment is gaining in popularity. As a result, accountants and fund administrators will need to gain an understanding of how this relatively new form of investment interacts with the income tax and superannuation laws. This session aims to assist you in doing so, including:
- What forms can digital investments take?
- What are the ATO’s views on cryptocurrency, including the:
- income tax implications (TD 2014/25 and TD 2014/26)
- super regulatory considerations
- What content would be required in the investment strategy and deed to allow digital investments?
- What is required to be held as adequate supporting documentation, including:
- the wallet requirements
- if the investment is held via a fund manager
- Is an NFT treated similar to collectables and personal use assets?
- Are all digital investments auditable?
