About the Webinar

The demographics of our society lends itself to numerous housing options that benefit our diverse population. Through practical case studies, this session looks at how GST impacts on some of those options, including:

  • How to treat GST on build-to-rent projects
  • What if a project includes a mixture of “build-to-rent” and “build-to-sell”?
  • Are retirement villages “commercial residential premises”?
  • How is GST applied to the care services and accommodation in retirement villages and privately funded nursing homes and hostels? (GSTR 2007/1; GSTR2012/3)
  • How is GST applied to retirement village “loan- lease” arrangements? (GSTR 2011/1)
  • The GST treatment for student accommodation (PCG 2022/3)
  • Does the 5 year rule for new residential premises apply to:
    • community housing?
    • retirement villages?
    • build-to-rent properties?
