Taking a practical approach to core tax topics, this session will provide an overview of the relevant tax considerations every Victorian conveyancer should know as well as flagging new or proposed legislation which may impact conveyancing practice in the near future. The session will cover:

  • Revenue law updates
  • Stamp duty tips and traps
  • GST (what’s required and tips on how to calculate)
  • Land tax
  • Transfers between spouses and duty implications
  • Death duty
  • Foreign Resident CGT Withholding Tax and related issues arising from purchase of land by non-residents; and
  • Key related measures in the state budget relating to bushfire and flood affected properties
