The Liquor Amendment (24 Hour Economy) Bill 2020 has now commenced and makes a number of important changes to the Liquor Act 2007. This session examines the key reforms and their practical implications, including:

  • Integrating sanctions and demerits schemes
  • Recognition of good performance by licensees
  • Removal of liquor licence conditions regarding performance and music
  • Removal of music and performance-related conditions from planning approvals
  • Reducing the role of Liquor and Gaming NSW in noise-related complaints
  • Re-aligning the liquor licensing and planning processes
  • Enhancing the regulatory framework for same day alcohol delivery
  • Removal of the “temporary” licence freeze in the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross

Kenneth Yardy’s experience in Licensed Premises began in the operational and enforcement realm, where he served in the NSW Police Force as a Detective for many years.  After obtaining his Legal Qualifications, he became a National Security Manager for a large Media Organisation.

Entering the legal industry, Kenneth acted in the specialized area of the Liquor, Gaming and Hospitality Industry for over twenty year, worked with Licensed Premises and Major Events for both operators and government departments.

He has also been involved in the ownership and management of Hotels in the past and currently sits on the Board of a Large Registered Club.
